The by the famous architect R�my de la Fosse designed Orangerie was built in the years 1719�to 1721 in Bessungen. The little palace was used an over-winter place for the Sicilian or Sardinian orange trees, which embellishes the Orangerie-Park during the warm months.

The elevenfold building has a towards the south open double floor hall surrounded by smaller one-storey rooms. It was used temporarily as a theatre after the Second World War. The restored building serves today as venue for concerts and conventions. The premises is especially suitable for festive events, banquettes and concerts. At the adjacent west wing is a restaurant with terrace�caf� situated.

The following Orangerie-Park was created by the Landgrave's head gardener J. K. Ehret from Heidelberg. The symmetrical baroque complex consists of triple stepped garden base, wide achsles with fountains and surrounding tree avenues.�The northern end is formed by the sandstone gate of the former Marktpalais. The southern fruits can still be admired today. Near the Orangerie is the Bessunger Kavaliershaus situated.
