One of the most striking buildings of the Mathildenh�he is the Hochzeitsturm that has become by nowDarmstadt's landmark.
The town Darmstadt constructed the tower to celebrate the wedding of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig with Princess Eleonore zu Solms-Hohensolms-Lichon the 2nd of February 1905.
The architect Josef Maria Olbrich, 1899 called by the Grand Duke to the artists' colony, designed the 48m high tower that was completed in 1908.
